In today’s world of wellness, we’re bombarded with advice on what to eat, which supplements to take and how to stay healthy. But the truth is, there is no one-size-fits-all approach to wellbeing. That’s why personalised health testing is fast becoming the gold standard in preventative care.
At Goodwood, this philosophy sits at the heart of the Gut Health Programme, where expert-led retreats combine nutritional therapy, education and personalised health testing diagnostics. Now, through a partnership with leading diagnostics provider Randox Health, guests can access the latest in microbiome and blood testing, helping them understand exactly what’s going on inside their bodies and what to do about it.

Why focus on the gut?
According to Dr Laura Mooney, Research & Development Scientist at Randox Health, gut health is more than a digestive issue, it’s a whole-body matter.
“The composition of the gut microbiome impacts many aspects of health, from how well we absorb nutrients and regulate our metabolism, to how effectively our immune system functions,” she explains. “An imbalance in the microbiome can increase the risk of conditions like diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease.”
It’s not always obvious when something is out of balance. Many people live with fatigue, cravings, bloating, or mood issues, not realising the root cause may lie in the gut. Personalised testing helps reveal these hidden connections.
“Testing can tell us how diverse your microbiome is and reveal the presence of both beneficial and problematic microbes,” Dr Mooney adds. “It offers insight into issues that might not be causing obvious symptoms yet, but are silently affecting your health.”
From test results to tailored advice
For Stephanie Moore, Celebrity Nutritionist and Goodwood’s Gut Health Programme Lead, testing is a way to move beyond guesswork and truly personalise someone’s wellbeing journey.
“Everyone is so individual, from how they absorb nutrients to how prone they are to inflammation or oxidative stress,” she says. “With personalised testing, we can ensure we’re supporting the systems that really need attention, without overwhelming the person with unnecessary changes.”
Using The Goodwood Panel blood test ahead of arrival on a Goodwood Wellness Retreat - a test designed in partnership with Randox Health - Stephanie is able to spot everything from leaky gut to hormone clearance issues, often before guests are aware of a problem.
“Markers like Beta-Glucuronidase, for instance, show us how the body is processing hormones like oestrogen, which is especially useful for women experiencing hormonal symptoms. And some compounds, when found in the blood but not the gut, can suggest a ‘leaky gut’, even if there are no digestive complaints.”
This level of insight makes it possible to tailor dietary, supplement and lifestyle recommendations with precision. And because these are dynamic processes, ongoing or follow-up testing can help fine-tune the path to optimum health.
Prevention is powerful
Both Stephanie and Dr Mooney agree that prevention is where the true value of personalised testing lies.
“We firmly believe personalised testing gives people greater control over their long-term health,” says Dr Mooney. “The earlier we can detect imbalances, the more opportunity there is to intervene, whether through diet, supplements or lifestyle, before disease develops.”
Stephanie adds, “So much of our health depends on what’s happening at a cellular or microbial level. Having that knowledge allows people to make informed, sustainable changes that can have a profound impact.”
