Get your dog vaccinated:
Your dog will need to be at least twelve weeks old before the vet administers a rabies vaccination and, once they have had the vaccine, you need to wait 21 days till they can travel. If they have already been vaccinated against rabies, it’s best to check to see if they need a booster before you head to board LeShuttle but you don’t need to wait to travel after a booster as long as your dog has been vaccinated continuously. Don't forget to make sure the vaccine name, manufacturer and date your dog was vaccinated/boosted as well as the expiry date of that most recent vaccination are recorded in the AHC or EU Pet Passport by a registered vet who will sign and stamp it.
Microchip your dog:
Make sure your dog is microchipped before or at the same time as they get their rabies vaccination. This needs to be done by a vet, who will make sure it can be read by a reader which conforms to ISO standards which is how it will be read before you travel.
Get a pet travel document:
If you’re going to an EU country, you will need an Animal Health Certificate 'AHC' from your vet which will be valid after the date of issue for ten days entry into the EU or Northern Ireland, four months for onward travel within the EU and four months for re-entry back into Great Britain. You can also use a valid pet passport if it’s accepted in the country you’re travelling to, but you can no longer use a pet passport issued in Great Britain to enter the EU.
What happens when you arrive at LeShuttle’s Pet Reception?
LeShuttle have a dedicated Pet Reception where their experienced staff will check your dog in for travel. You’ll need to show your pet’s AHC or a valid pet passport containing proof of their:
You will then be free to use their pet exercise area, relax in the pet lounge or they can join you while you browse the shops and duty free in the terminal building.
