The bike Mandy Bishop (then Jones) rode to world championship glory at Goodwood in 1982 has been fully restored in time for Eroica Britannia this August.

The in-depth restoration has been completed by Brian Digby of Classic and Vintage Cycles.

“The frame was in a poor state,” Brian explains. “I got it chromed about two years ago by Prestige Electro-Plating in Mexborough and then sent it for paint by Kevin Winter from Co Durham. The decals have been made using the waterslide method which is period correct.”

“Mandy had some of the original equipment and I sourced the rest using a digital image to look at the original bike in detail. The parts are a mixture of Cinelli, Gipiemme, Campagnolo Super Record and Mavic hubs.”

“Nigel (Mandy's husband) built the wheels once I had restored the hubs and used the rims he had,” says Brian.

Mandy and her historic bicycle have now been reunited and will be on the startline for the 60-mile Sporting route. “It’s great seeing it done and Brian has done a superb job,” Mandy says.

We can’t wait to see this beautiful bike and its world-champion rider back at Goodwood after 40 years!
