Careers

What motivated you to join Goodwood and how has your training helped shape your career aspirations?
I was working as a contractor for Goodwood and the opportunity to get an apprenticeship arose which I couldn’t turn down. Working in Goodwood House, in particular, gives me experience in more specialised techniques such as gilding, stippling and graining.
What do you enjoy most about working at Goodwood?
I enjoy working in such an interesting location such as Goodwood House, there's not many places you can learn about the history and techniques of a stately home. It's a very unique place to work.
What have been some of the highlights of your time in your role and your training?
Being on the site during the build and event of Festival of Speed was exciting. I have recently been involved with redecorating/refurbishing some of the windows on the Cherry Attic, which is on the Private Side and the low-level windows on the front of the house. It has been really satisfying to see them restored.
Looking ahead, what are your career goals and how do you see your experience at Goodwood shaping your future in the industry?
I would eventually like to be self-employed and have my own painting & decorating business. I’d like to learn new skills like tiling and plastering. Hopefully in the future I can do some work for Goodwood as a contractor.
In what ways do you feel supported and mentored by your team and Goodwood team? How has this support contributed to your professional development?
I have had continual guidance and help to finish my college coursework. Working alongside someone with loads of experience, such as Mike Collins, who has really helped me learn and I continue to learn new skills on a regular basis.
