Video: Porsche Taycan RWD review

26th February 2021
Ben Miles

This is the Porsche Taycan, not Taycan Turbo or Turbo S, not even a Taycan 4 or 4S. No this is just a Taycan. We’ll call it the Taycan rear-wheel-drive for ease of identification, but the true name for the base electric Porsche is just Taycan.

We were lucky enough to be invited to drive the more basic version of the Taycan earlier this year. While the day we chose was wet and rainy, they also provided us with some glorious footage of the Taycan on the same roads, in case you see the difference.

The rear-driven Taycan will hit 62mph in 5.4 seconds – about double the time the Turbo S takes to get there – because it has, well, about half the power and torque. But, as it is now just rear driven and a little bit lighter, is it now a proper driver’s car? Let’s find out.
