Video: Honda's first CR-V hybrid – in-depth review
Honda is a company that prides itself on solving problems through engineering. It's why Honda preseveres with its Formula 1 engine programme despite years of setbacks. It believes strongly that by continuing to work for a technological solution it can overcome the hurdles. That kind of thinking is why we now have a CR-V hybrid.
The new CR-V's drivetrain is feindishly complicated, with a petrol engine and multiple electric motors working in tandem to power the vehicle. I won't go into detail right here, when my colleague Seán has done a great job in this video, so I'll let him explain. But it's safe to say that it is a neat idea, and one that takes some of the current solutions to the need to decrease fuel consumption and emissions, and works with them in a slightly different way.
