Video: 24 cylinders of Ferrari heaven

08th March 2022

Ferrari's early system of naming its lineages after the capacity of an individual cylinder has created some legendary three-number combinations, no more so than the 250-series of cars. But just because the 3.0-litre cars get the lion's share of the plaudits definitely does not mean that those which followed aren't equally deserving.

A case in point is this brace of Rosso Corsa machines making its way enthusiastically through the Austrian Alps; a 275 GTB – arguably the most beautiful Ferrari ever – and a 365 GTB/4 'Daytona'.

The older car is in front as we watch from the perspective of the Daytona driver. Despite the location and the car in front, the main point of this video is not the view but the sound. The Daytona's 4.4-litre V12 is fully exercised through tunnels, around hairpins and along short, forested straights with rev matching and the snick-snick of the gated gearchange there to be enjoyed.
