Video: Racing a quad bike at 85mph on a beach is logical

Racing a quad bike at 85mph+ down a beach and then through sand paths in forests and across car parks sounds like fun doesn’t it? Yes. If not, let this video be a guide to exactly how wrong you are.

That is what they do every now and then in Northern France, and it looks like some of the most fun, and possibly painful, experiences you can have powered by petrol. Fun because, well, it’s powering quad bikes as fast as you can around a course that’s pretty much specially designed for this kind of thing, so there’s very little to argue with there.

Painful? Well, imagine driving at 85mph into the sand that’s been kicked up by other bikes. Unless you wear some kind of face covering you’re probably about to get the best facial scrub of your life.
