Video: How to drive Fuji Speedway in a GT3 Nissan GT-R
In the shadow of Mount Fuji sits a race circuit. Almost five kilometres of convoluted asphalt wind through the famous foothills, historically welcoming some of the world’s leading motorsport events, including Formula 1 and the World Sportscar Championship.
Nowadays, the speedway sees less action, due to the popularity of Japan’s Suzuka Circuit, but that doesn’t detract from Fuji’s awesome appeal. In fact, it just means that there’s more opportunity for the rest of us to get a look in…
And one driver making the most of the epic speedway is Takayuki Aoki in a 2018 Nissan R35 GT-R Nismo GT3. He cuts a blistering pace through the curves, throwing the powerful car around the near-empty circuit. And thanks to a perfectly-positioned helmet cam, we can jump in for the ride.
The built-to-order GT-R Nismo GT3 launched in 2012, and the 2018 model as seen in this video featured optimised weight distribution, improved dynamics and front and rear rigidity tweaks. Conforming to FIA GT3 regulations, it cost ¥60,000,000 – that’s almost half a million pounds, without tax or delivery.
