2024 IndyCar standings
Alex Palou did what he needed to do at Nashville Superspeedway to become the second youngest three-time IndyCar champion in history. He kept his nose clean, and ultimately cruised to the title after his only rival, Will Power, suffered heartbreak in the early stages as his seatbelts came undone and he fell five laps behind.
Palou eventuall finished in 11th place, one lap behind race winner Colton Herta, but with a substantial cushion over Power, who eventually ended up eight laps down at the chequered flag.
Herta claimed his first victory on an oval to round off his most successful season in IndyCar as championship runner up ahead of Scott McLaughlin and the hapless Power.
