The brawny yet sharp Group A Rover SD1 formerly of Andy Rouse, and the polar opposite feather-light raspy BMW 528i, took to the track for a bit of a shakedown, comparison, and a preview for the glorious Group A high speed demo’ that we have at the coming 75th Members’ Meeting.
In the video above, 2013 BTCC Champion and GRR track tester, Andrew Jordan, gives us his impressions. Much as you might expect, the 528 is a ballerina and the SD1 is a UFC fighter. Both are elegant, but are vastly different means to the same end. As AJ says, the SD1 is a credit to the supreme motorsport preparation prowess behind it, and the 528i is a joy, revelling in a good kicking.
Which would be your pick for a circuit session? We’ll have a few more to choose from at 75MM in a couple of weeks…
