Video: Very sideways Hesketh F1 run up Festival of Speed Hill

Built for the 1978 season the 308E was the last F1 car to be constructed by privateer team Hesketh before it folded, half way through the year. The car achieved very little, in the grand scheme of motoring creations it’s still fast, loud and incredibly exciting, as you can see and hear from Michael Lyons’ drive in it at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard in 2015. We’ve already shown you the onboard footage, but the cockpit-cam doesn’t give you quite the same perspective on the more-than-a-little-terrifying angles Lyons pulls all the way up the Hill. He’d clearly had his Weetabix.
