The Peter Collins Tropy, for sportcars that raced in the late '40s and early '50s, looked set to be a battle of Jaguar C-Type and Aston Martin DB3. But that was to discount the Kurtis 500S of Geraint Owen, who was in no mood to cede victory to the Brits. Queue a UK v US battle for victory that went to the wire.
