The Goodwood Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport has been hosting motorcycle racing since 2016, when the Hailwood Trophy was held for the first time featuring a grid of historic Grand Prix motorcycles from the 1970s and ‘80s.

In its original format the field completed a single 20-minute race, the first running was won by Ian Simpson atop a Yamaha TZ350E, and the TZ350 has remained unbeaten ever since. Mike Edwards claimed the spoils a year later at the 75th Members’ Meeting, comfortably leading home a field dominated by the Yamaha machine by more than 30 seconds after an exemplary performance.
Snowy weather saw the Hailwood Trophy cancelled in 2018, and it was rested in 2019 in favour of the first running of the all-new Sheene Trophy. Graham Higlett was the inaugural winner on a Triumph T150 before the Members’ Meeting bikes were postponed during the pandemic in 2020.

The race became known as the Hailwood Trophy (ft. Sheene Trophy), and saw two winners crowned, one for each class. James Hillier led home Richard Wilson in a thrilling encounter between Grand Prix and Formula 750 machinery that saw them split by just 0.7 seconds at the chequered flag.
The format expanded further in 2022, with two races now taking place across the Members’ Meeting weekend, with the results combined to crown an overall winner. The TZ350s were again the class of the field with Levi Day and Dan Jackson taking a victory each, while Richard Wilson and Andy Hornby shared the spoils in the Sheene Trophy. Jackson claimed overall victory in the Hailwood, with Hornby prevailing in the Sheene after Wilson failed to finish Part 2.

Scott Carson (#24) won the Hailwood Trophy at the 80th Members' Meeting
Image credit: Pete SummersScott Carson was unbeatable on his TZ350G at the 80th Members’ Meeting in 2022, he won both races to walk away with the Hailwood Trophy, while Andy Hornby was equally dominant as the Sheene Trophy winner. Part 1 was memorable for a remarkable battle for the lead between Carson and Dan Cooper, the two were separated by just 0.3 seconds as they crossed the finish line.
It was another close-fought thing at the 81st Members’ Meeting, again a battle between TZ350Gs as Phil Atkinson just saw off Glen English to win by 0.2 seconds in Part 1. Andy Hornby was again the top finisher in the Sheene Trophy, heading home Michael Russell by less than a second. Part 2 was Atkinson’s again, but Russell made the most of a DNF for Hornby to claim his first victory and take overall glory in the Sheene Trophy.

Dan Jackson won the Hailwood Trophy at the 79th Members' Meeting
Image credit: Toby WhalesWe were treated to the closest and most exciting battle to date across the entire weekend of the 82nd Members’ Meeting, as Dan Jackson on his TZ350 engaged in a relentless duel with Michael Russell on his Triumph Trident. It was two-stroke 350cc vs. four-stroke Formula 750, and Jackson just came out on top on both occasions. Over both races he managed to claim overall victory by just less than a second, he also took the Hailwood Trophy as Russell was a comfortable winner in the Sheene Trophy.
