Conditions were perfect for the Bruce McLaren Trophy, the race for pre-1966 Can Am and Group 7 sportscars, which meant spectators were in for a treat as these big-power machines thundered around Goodwood Motor Circuit. It was an all-Lola front row of the grid, with Stuart Hall, Phil Keen and Andy Newall putting their respective T70s right at the sharp end.

The order changed before the field completed the first corner, setting the tone for a hard-fought battle on either side of a red flag stoppage. With the field closed up again for the restart, it was a ten-minute sprint to the flag with several drivers in with a shot of victory.

The roar of V8 engines made it impossible to miss when the contenders for the Bruce McLaren Trophy came out for Official Practice. With two-time winner Nick Padmore absent, this year’s Members’ Meeting is set to crown a new champion.

Despite Padmore’s absence, the 1966 Lola‑Chevrolet T70 Spyder once again dominated the times, securing a front‑row lockout with Stuart Hall fastest, followed by Phill Keen and Andy Newall in third. We look forward to seeing whether the Lola can reign supreme for a third consecutive year. When is the 2026 Bruce McLaren Trophy?

The fastest and most powerful cars racing at the 83^rd Members’ Meeting will be unleashed on Saturday afternoon, with Official Practice for the Bruce McLaren Trophy scheduled to commence at 12:15 on Saturday.

On Sunday, the visceral race action begins at 12:25, as the high-speed prototypes compete in a definitive tribute to Bruce McLaren's legacy. Spectators are advised to be trackside early to witness the booming V8 barrage as these elite drivers push legendary machinery to the absolute limit.

Who’s competing in the 2026 Bruce McLaren Trophy?

The grid is stacked with professional talent, led by British GT legend Phil Keen, who serves as the benchmark for the field. He is joined by Le Mans veteran and WEC champion Stuart Hall.

Overseas stars include Katsu Kubota, known in Japan for his ‘no-compromise’ style, and European veteran Andy Newall. Other key names to watch include restoration expert Adam Sykes, Julien Draper and Jakob Viggo Holstein, all of whom embody the competitive spirit of the McLaren era.

Expect a grid dominated by the booming V8 engines of 1960s sports-prototypes. Headlining the entry list are legendary Can-Am machines like the 1966 Lola-Chevrolet T70 Spyder and the 1965 McLaren-Chevrolet M1A.
