Video: Aston Martin, Ferrari and Porsche battle in chaotic start
A bad start for one can bring a premature race end for many. Thankfully, when 2016 BTCC runner-up Sam Tordoff failed to get away at the start of the 2018 Fordwater Trophy in his Porsche 356 – from pole position, no less – the entire grid saw him stranded and managed to take avoiding action. The resulting avoiding action, however, made for a close and highly entertaining first lap.
Le Mans class-winner and Aston Martin factory driver Darren Turner set off from second position in his 1950 DB2, while the 1952 Ferrari 225S Vignale Berlinetta leapt away at the start from fourth to first. And from fifth, Stuart Graham in his 1960 Jaguar XK120 Roadster found himself breathing down the collar of Turner by the first corner.
