These are some of our favourite cars to see racing at the Goodwood Revival. Powerful sleek Grand Prix machinery of the 1950s, right before the cars went mid-engined and got more advanced. These are 2.5-litre sledgehammers that put the driver’s backside on the rear axle.

It was a wet one too, adding to the drama for our drivers, with Miles Griffiths, Ben Mitchell and Marino Franchitti starting up front, though Tony Wood in the Tec-Mec Maserati got the jump from the off. It wasn’t to last, though, as Mitchell went for the overtake, overwhelming Wood into an off. Who came out on top in the end? Watch on…
