Video: 2021 Freddie March Memorial Trophy highlights | Goodwood Revival

20th September 2021
Henry Biggs

The 1950s was when motor racing started to move into the modern era, and there was one race that stood head and shoulders above the rest as the prize that manufacturers most coveted: Le Mans. Building a car to lead at Le Sarthe and do it twice round the clock drove innovation like nothing else.

It is these 1950s sportscars built to dominate in France that are celebrated in the Freddie March Memorial trophy and race just as hard as they did nearly seven decades ago. Aston Martins, Frazer Nashes, Maseratis, Ferraris and of course Jaguars line up on one of Goodwood most attractive grids. There was even a very sideways Mercedes 300SL Gullwing entertaining the crowds.
