Sears Trophy saloon car thrash to pay homage to BSCC at Revival 2018!

Named after the first champion of Britain’s premier motorsport series, the Jack Sears Memorial Trophy will feature a representative grid of cars that would have been seen in action in that inaugural year.

Both Jack Sears and Tommy Sopwith ended that season tied on 48 points, with both drivers taking seven victories in their respective classes. The pair were put head-to-head in identical Riley One-Point-Fives, competing in two five-lap races and swapping cars between races. 

With aggregate times calculated, Sears got the better of Sopwith by just 1.8 seconds and was crowned the first ever British Saloon Car Champion. ‘Gentleman’ Jack was presented with the Bonneville Trophy by the British Automobile Company for his triumph.

The Jack Sears Memorial Trophy promises an exciting array of cars, including those similar to the championship-deciding Riley One-Point-Fives racing alongside representatives of Sears’ Austin A105, Sopwith’s Jaguar Mk1 and many other cars of the era going wheel-to-wheel for Revival honours.
