Previous winners of the Freddie March Memorial Trophy

20th March 2026

Three of the opening four Freddie March Memorial Trophy races were won by Gary Pearson, fulfilling the promise that Jaguar showed in period but never achieved by taking a C-type across the line first for those early wins. Pearson’s third victory was aboard a Cooper T33.

This is a race that captures the spirit of the original Goodwood Nine Hour races of the early 1950s, all of which were won by Aston Martins, and Newport Pagnell marque has come out on top in two Freddie March Memorial Trophy races, firstly in 2002 with Green and Sytner’s DB3S, and again in 2017 with a Rob Hall-piloted DB3.

British marques have generally dominated the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, with Lagondas, Coopers, Allards and even an Austin-Healey taking victories over the years. We have, on occasion, seen Italian cars coming out on top, too.

The most famous driver to claim a victory in this race is 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button, who shared a Jaguar C-type with Alex Buncombe in 2025. The occasion finally delivered the former Brawn driver his first race win at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. A year prior, British Touring Car Champion Jake Hill brought an HWM over the line first.
