As Goodwood commemorates the 50th anniversary of Barry Sheene’s first 500cc World Championship victory across all three motorsport events in 2026, the festivities will come to a fitting conclusion at the 2026 Revival, following celebrations at the 83rd Members’ Meeting presented by Audrain Motorsport and the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

Barry Sheene won his final race here at the Goodwood Motor Circuit during the 2002 Revival, just six months before his death at the age of 52. Despite his illness, he still put on an incredible show, because above all else, Sheene was always an entertainer.
His race-long duel with Wayne Gardner in the Lennox Cup is one of the most fondly remembered moments in Revival history, and his memory has remained a part of Goodwood’s historic race meeting ever since, thanks to the renamed Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy.
But 2026 will see his life brought to forefront once again with a unique celebration. A special selection of race-winning motorcycles from across Sheene’s career, including those that he rode during his visits to the Goodwood Revival, will come together for a poignant commemoration of the man we remember as one of the greatest and most influential bike racers of all time.
The bikes will star in a parade during the build-up to the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy race, ridden by several special guests and close friends of Sheene who will help us all to remember the man who transformed motorcycle racing, and continues to inspire new generations of motorsport fans all over the world.
The 2026 Goodwood Revival will be an opportunity for everyone in attendance to soak up the atmosphere as we salute the great Barry Sheene, 50 years on from his first World Championship triumph. The perfect close to a year of celebrations to mark the legacy of a legend.
