The original Chichester Cup — named after the city that neighbours the Goodwood Motor Circuit — ran sporadically throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Most notably, it was a Formula 3 race in which Jackie Stewart claimed victory in 1964.
The likes of Jim Clark and John Surtees made their single-seater debuts in these sort of front-engined Formula Junior cars, and it’s these that make up the grid for the Revival’s Chichester Cup.
While it has been featured since the very first Revival in 1998, 2025 marks the contest’s return to the race list after a two-year absence. The Chichester Cup will feature some of the very earliest front-engined Formula Junior racers that competed through the late 1950s, and with such an illustrious past a win in the Chichester Cup means a lot to the drivers who enter this 20-minute race.
Witness them manage minimal grip as they hustle entry-level Lotuses, Brabhams and Cooper single-seaters around the track.
Chichester Cup action will make its return to the Motor Circuit on Friday, with a 20-minute Official Practice session to determine the starting grid taking place at 14:50. The race itself is the opening event on Sunday, kicking off the final day of racing bright and early at 09:35.
