Video: Rimac Nevera smashes a Hill record

Miro Zrnčević Mrgud spent the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard weekend delighting visitors with his smokey and very sideways runs up the Hill. But when the stopwatch came out for the Timed Shootout on Sunday, out went the showboating and in came scalpel-sharp precision. The result? A time of 49.32 seconds, a new record for a production specification EV and seventh fastest overall on the day.

If anyone knows how the get the best from the 1,940PS (1,426kW) Nevera, it’s Rimac’s own in-house chief development and test driver. Miro has been with the Nevera from day one, seeing it through three generations and no fewer than 18 prototypes. He therefore knows car number ‘000’ of 150 like the back of his hand. And he's now pretty familiar with the Duke of Richmond’s driveway, too.

This neat and tidy ascent shows what the Rimac Nevera can do when it’s driven with serious intent. The whooshes of the EV powertrain are punctuated with the odd tyre squeal, and there’s an automatic intervention of the hazard lights in every braking zone when the car thinks it’s stopping in an emergency. There was no emergency – just an urgent appointment with the finishline.
