Video: Massa’s drive in Hill’s championship-winning FW18
Felipe Massa is an F1 hero in his own right, but add Damon Hill’s ’96 Championship-winning car into the mix and it’s an unmissable combination.
The Brazilian racing legend made his second visit to the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard back in 2014, where he climbed into the Williams-Renault FW18 for a brilliant run.
Damp conditions and a cracked fuel tank threatened to hamper his attempt at the 1.16-mile stretch of tarmac, but thanks to the ingenuity of the Williams engineers, and a break in the rain, Massa persevered to set a screaming run in the beautiful car.
Pre- and post-run interviews give an insight into the William driver’s life at the time, with Massa mentioning his childhood Brazillian racing heroes, Piquet and Senna, and his intentions for the upcoming races.
