Every Koenigsegg is fast enough to make your eyes water. But your eyes would likely resemble the Niagara Falls were you to have a ride in Koenigsegg’s new Sadair’s Spear up the Hill at the 2025 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

This is Koenigsegg’s latest creation, a lightweight, track-ready road car with enough power and torque to rip apart our delightful Hillclimb. The Koenigsegg Jesko on which this car is based took its name from Christian Von Koenigsegg’s father, while this takes its name from the final horse Christian’s father rode in his former jockey career: Sadair’s Speed.

This isn’t a racer, but it sure sounds like one. Its 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 produces 25PS more than the Jesko, meaning 1,625PS (1,199kW) in total on E85, or 1,300PS (959kW) if you were to take it to the local petrol station and top it up with ‘regular’ fuel. That’s thanks to revised engine calibration, redesigned air intakes and improved cooling.

Revving to 8,500rpm in 0.2, this engine is a unit, and combined with Koenigsegg’s nine-speed Lightspeed transmission, the Sadair’s Spear was able to lap the Gotland Ring in Sweden 1.1 seconds faster than the already very, very fast Jesko Attack.

As well as the monster engine, there’s an active top-mounted ‘double-blade’ rear wing combined with a stretched rear end, plus larger canards, louvres and bonnet vents at the front. There are also some lovely seven-spoke turbine blade Aircore carbon fibre wheels, new sticky tires and carbon-ceramic brakes with new pads. That’s a good thing, given how disgustingly fast this car is.

The self-levelling suspension uses lighter springs, contributing towards an overall weight drop of 35kg. Koenigsegg has managed to throw away another 2.6kg of sound deadening, too.

Inside there’s a six-point harness but normal seat belts are available. A good thing, given the car costs around £3.3million.

Want to get a true idea of how fast the Sadair’s Spear is? It might look fast on camera, but it’ll only be getting faster this weekend as it’s competing in the Timed Shoot-Out. Hold onto your hats everyone, we’ve got a thoroughbred on our hands…
