Video: Future Le Mans races could be water-powered

19th August 2021

Could Le Mans cars of the future emit water rather than carbon dioxide? That’s what’s asked by the Mission H24 racing team. The catchily-named LMPH2G uses a hydrogen fuel-cell to generate electric power to motivate the car. It does so by combining hydrogen and air, with the only byproduct being water.

Yes, sat in the queue to take its run up the Goodwood Hill, it’s dripping water out the back. While here at the Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard, the team even took the Duke of Richmond for a run up the Hill to see what the project is all about.
