This compilation is a veritable chocolate box of delights, including Daniel Ricciardo’s many try-smoking burnouts and donuts in Sebastian Vettel’s Championship-winning Red Bull RB7, and Vettel himself driving Nigel Mansell’s illustrious Williams FW14B V10. We also get to bask in the sound of classic racers like the Ferrari 312T, the glorious 156 Sharknose, the roaring snorkel-roofed McLaren M23 and the beautiful Alfa Romeo 159 Alfetta.
All of which should be more than enough to hype you up for the 2025 Festival of Speed, where so many great drivers and machines will be in attendance.
So far McLaren has announced it is bringing five Championship-winning cars, including the MP4/2B, driven by Alain Prost, and the MP4/4, driven by Prost and Ayrton Senna. Haas will also be out in strength, blasting its first F1 car, the VF-16, and its racers from the 2023 and 2024 seasons up the hill.
The list of classic F1 cars heading to this year’s Festival of Speed should also make for a special day, with the likes of the Lotus 79 and Williams FW11 confirmed for attendance. The 79 brought ground effect to F1, and Mario Andretti drove it to a World Championship in 1978. Meanwhile, the FW11 turbocharged Nigel Mansell’s career, despite his heartbreak after a puncture cost him the drivers’ championship in the final race at Adelaide.
Finally, there’s the FW14B, which is more of a technical marvel than a car. Back in 1992, it featured wizardry like traction control, ABS and a semi-automatic gearbox. However, it was the car’s active suspension that made the real difference, providing a stable platform to get the best from aerodynamics by Adrian Newey.
For now, though, let’s enjoy this video featuring F1 racers you’ll not see anywhere else.
The 2025 Festival of Speed takes place on 10th-13th July. Thursday tickets are now limited. A small batch of extra tickets for Friday–Sunday have just been released, exclusively for members of the GRRC.
