Day two of the 2025 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard has drawn to a close, and with that we’re halfway through what is already turning into a hugely memorable four days at Goodwood.
Friday picked up where Thursday left off, treating us to a non-stop stream of action on the Hill. The drifters were out in force once again, and we couldn’t help but grin as Axel Hildebrand tore up the road with his phenomenal Volvo 740. He was joined by the likes of Ryan Tuerck, Steve ‘Baggsy’ Biagioni and ‘Mad Mike’ Whiddett at the wheel of his screaming Mazda RX-7 ‘HUMBUL’.
The competition for the largest burnout of the Festival of Speed was hotting up, and we were particularly impressed by the Lotus Evija’s attempt. Meanwhile the likes of the Ford Supertruck and Jake Hill in the Holden Commodore were more intent on kicking up the dust as they clipped the grass preparing themselves for the Timed Shoot-Out on Sunday afternoon.
Formula 1 is of course a huge feature in 2025, and the F1 75 celebrations continued apace with all of the cars returning to the Hill once again. And they’re taking a rest from the hard work on the Hill, the line-up of Ferraris in the paddock are enough to make even the most stoic of folk weak at the knees.
Of course, we also have to mention the brilliant Carl Fogarty, who drenched a contingent of his biggest fans with champagne in front of the Goodwood House before heading up onto the balcony for a wonderfully emotional moment.
Overall, we’d say it’s been a successful day here at the Festival of Speed. We’ll be back to do it all again tomorrow.
