Gallery: Celebrating 50 years of the legendary Lotus 49 at FOS

10th July 2017
Ethan Jupp

This year marks the 50th anniversary of a very important first win. That win being – in the hands of non-other than Jim Clark – the first for both the groundbreaking and to-be iconic Lotus 49 Formula 1 car, and the Cosworth Double Four Valve engine.

The 49 would go on to be one of the most revered machines in Grand Prix history and the DFV the discipline’s most successful engine. Their significance was unprecedented at the time and fully appreciated today. That’s why at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard we had a class dedicated to this legend of F1. Is this the most iconic F1 car of all time?
